Forget the mimosa! Brunch just got a lot more fun with these Breakfast Shots.

Composed of Irish whiskey, butterscotch schnapps and syrup, this co*cktail is then garnished with bacon and chased down with a separate shot of OJ.

Contrary to its name, the shot is not a traditional Irish breakfast item.

It probably gets its nickname since Jameson Irish Whiskey is typically the preferred choice of liquor.

What Does This Shot Taste Like?

The Breakfast Shot is essentially two shots drunk one after the other.

First, you take the mixed shot, then the orange juice shot, and finally the bacon.

Follow these steps, and you’ll get a sweet and savory co*cktail that tastes like you just took a maple pancake shot.

And because it tastes like breakfast, this is why the shot is served during brunch or St. Patrick’s Day.

So if you prefer sweet breakfasts or just love all things shots, this recipe is perfect for you!

What Ingredients Do You Need to Make Breakfast Shots?

Irish whiskey — Technically, you can use any type of whiskey. However, Irish whiskey is most preferred since it’s lighter and smoother to chase. Plus, it has a sweeter taste than other whiskeys.

Butterscotch schnapps — For a hint of caramel.

Maple syrup — For sweet and breakfast flavor.

Orange juice — Fresh is always best, but bottled juice works too.

Bacon — We cooked ours in the air fryer beforehand since this method is quick, easy, requires less attention, and we knew that it would be cooked evenly.

Recipe Notes and Tips

— Since this recipe is best served cold, chill the glasses in advance in the freezer for at least 10 minutes beforehand.

— To serve as a co*cktail drink instead of a shot, simply mix all the liquid ingredients into a shaker. Strain the mix into a tall glass filled with ice. Then, pour orange juice to top it off.

— For extra sweetness, swap out the bacon for candied bacon, which you can easily make by simply sprinkling brown sugar in the oven or air fryer.

— You can pour the ingredients directly in the shot, without using a co*cktail shaker. However, we prefer that the flavors are evenly mixed and chilled in a shaker.
