In my experience, the value of particular data has often been overlooked. Truth be told, more often than not certain visualisations can be hit or miss; and if it's not clear and obvious forget about it. Best method is to develop an iterative process of creating visualisations, receiving feedback, implementing said feedback and then repeating the process until a clear visualisation is created to communicate the sheer value of the data in question. It is important to note, all data has value but how you use it is the most important factor. Also, it is important to note that, no matter how hard to try, people still may just "not get it" and that's equally as okay. Unfortunately, you're not in charge of making decisions, you are there to guide.
